Terms of use

These terms apply when you use the Peeko Prose website or installed web app.

Your writing remains yours

You retain all rights you hold in writing you use with Peeko. Peeko Prose does not claim ownership of it or obtain a licence to publish, sell or train on it. The current checker operates locally and does not upload manuscript text to a Peeko Prose account or manuscript database.

What Peeko provides

Peeko is a diagnostic beta tool. It raises possible punctuation, consistency, rhythm and clarity concerns without generating replacement prose. Its observations are prompts for human judgement, not definitive errors, professional editing, legal advice or a promise that a manuscript is accurate or ready to publish.

Local data and backups

Drafts, settings and learned choices are stored by your browser. You are responsible for downloading backups and keeping them private. Browser resets, device loss, uninstallation, storage limits or a move to a different web address can remove or separate local data. Peeko Prose cannot recover local data that was never exported.

Acceptable use

You may use Peeko for lawful personal or commercial writing work. Do not interfere with the service, attempt to bypass security or availability controls, use it to distribute malware, or use Peeko Prose branding and assets in a way that suggests an unauthorised product or endorsement.

Peeko Prose materials

The Peeko Prose name, mascot, interface, checking software and original site materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. These terms give you permission to use the product, not ownership of those materials. “Peeko Prose” is used as a trade mark.

Optional support payments

You may choose to support Peeko Prose through its external Ko-fi page. Support is voluntary and is not required to use Peeko. Unless an offer expressly says otherwise, a support payment does not purchase a subscription, additional checker features, editorial work or other services.

Ko-fi and its payment providers process the transaction under their own terms and policies. Nothing in these terms affects rights that cannot legally be excluded. Payment questions can be sent to peekoprose@gmail.com.

Beta availability and responsibility

Peeko is provided on an “as available” basis during beta. Features, checks and availability may change, and errors or interruptions may occur. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no implied guarantee is made that Peeko will find every issue, work on every browser or preserve local data indefinitely.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to that, Peeko Prose is not responsible for indirect loss, lost manuscripts, lost profits or publishing decisions arising from reliance on the beta tool. Keep independent copies of important writing.

Changes and contact

These terms may be updated as Peeko develops. Continued use after a new effective date means the updated terms apply. Questions can be sent to peekoprose@gmail.com.
