Release 12 guide
Local data and backups
Peeko keeps its working data in your browser. A complete backup lets you recover it or carry it to another Peeko address.
What is stored where
| Data | Contents | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Current editor | The text presently open, whether or not saved | Page memory; included as a recovery draft when needed during backup |
| Saved drafts | Title, full text, profile, settings and dates | Browser database on this device |
| Learned choices | Fingerprint, category, short cue and dates | Browser local storage on this device |
| Checking profile | Language and sensitivity choices | Browser local storage on this device |
| Offline app | Peeko’s interface and checking code | Browser application cache |
Create a complete backup
- Open Peeko and choose Back up & move.
- Review the local-data summary.
- Choose Download complete backup.
- Store the dated JSON file somewhere private and backed up.
If the current editor contains unsaved changes, Peeko includes that version as a recovery draft without silently changing the saved copy in your browser.
Restore safely
- Open Back up & move and choose the JSON backup.
- Wait for Peeko to validate its format and integrity.
- Choose Merge to keep local items, or Replace to discard local Peeko data and use only the backup.
- Complete the restore, then open a saved draft and check it before deleting the original copy.
Merge keeps the newest copy when two drafts have the same internal ID. The imported checking profile becomes active. Replace requires an extra confirmation. If writing to browser storage fails, Peeko attempts to roll back to the data present before restoration.
Moving to peekoprose.com
Browser storage belongs to the exact website address that created it. The installed beta and the future app.peekoprose.com therefore cannot automatically see each other’s drafts.
- From the old installed Peeko, download a complete backup.
- Open Peeko at its new official address and install that version.
- Restore with Merge, open several drafts and check that learned choices and settings arrived.
- Only then uninstall the old app. Keep the backup until you are confident the move is complete.
Deleting data
The Delete all local data control removes Peeko’s drafts, learned choices, selected settings and current editor text from the present browser. It cannot remove backup files you downloaded or support emails you chose to send. Clearing site data in browser settings may also remove Peeko data without giving Peeko a chance to warn you.
